Para-sport: the Cybathlon experience

Cybathlon is a cybernetic competition in which people with disabilities compete in different disciplines based on daily-life activities with the aid of advanced assistive devices. This initiative allows researchers from different backgrounds, industries, and end-users to work together to promote improvements in the quality of life of disabled people. In this talk, a description of the event, with a focus on the Functional Electrical Stimulation bike race, and its impact on the design of assistive technologies and on the scientific research will be provided.
