ECG signal processing in sport (ECG)
Cardiovascular signal processing is useful to analyze the physiological changes that occur during exercise to meet the increased metabolic demand and during the recovery from it. However, muscular noise, motion artifacts, changes in heart rhythm and respiration represent different challenges which require dedicated signal processing techniques to extract and interpret relevant information for exercise performance assessment and athletes monitoring. Heart rate variability (HRV), and respiratory and repolarization dynamics can be used to evaluate the cardiovascular system during exercise, providing insights into the training status, fatigue, and recovery of an individual, as well as sports performance.
