AI for medical device maintenance and metrology in LMICs: the case of Bosnia and Herzegovinian
The healthcare sector is one of the most important aspects for the functionality of each country and directly affects the life of each individual. This has been already demonstrated by numerous programs and legislative acts that respond to the various challenges this sector encounters. The European Medical Device Regulation (MDR) emphasizes the importance of standardization and harmonization of the system for supervision of medical devices that are already in use. Combining medical devices, metrology and artificial intelligence (AI) an effective maintenance systems can be created that reduce costs in LMICS. Trustworthy AI improves safety and reliability of medical devices in clinical use contributing to decrease of possible injuries and deaths caused by medical devices failure and maintenance costs in healthcare institutions. This approach is result of wider economic implications of the need for improved management of medical devices in healthcare institutions.
